**Australia Finalizes Squad for ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, Big Names Miss Out**

Australia has confirmed their final 15-player squad and traveling reserves for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024. While the main squad remains unchanged from their preliminary list, Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short will join the team as reserves.

Notably, Steve Smith, Jason Behrendorff, and Tanveer Sangha have not been included in the squad for the four-week tournament in the West Indies and the USA.

Mitchell Marsh has been appointed as the full-time T20I captain, a decision confirmed by Australia with their original squad announcement on May 1.

Left-arm spinner Ashton Agar has been recalled despite not playing a T20I since the last T20 World Cup held in Australia in 2022. The final squad includes all-rounders Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Cameron Green, and Glenn Maxwell.

The Australian squad, along with their staff, will arrive in the West Indies in phases. Players currently participating in the Indian Premier League will be given some time at home before joining the team.

Australian chair of selectors George Bailey stated that Jake Fraser-McGurk and Matt Short made "compelling cases" for selection, offering strong backup options should any squad members face injuries during the tournament.

“As the tournament proceeds, the short turnaround between fixtures makes it challenging to get players in at short notice in the event of injury," Bailey explained.

"Matt provides the squad with an all-round skillset, while Jake offers additional batting cover."

“Both players have exciting talents that can enhance the squad if needed. If not, the experience will still be valuable for their development at the international level.”

**Australia Set to Open T20 World Cup Campaign Against Oman**

Australia will kick off their T20 World Cup campaign against Oman in Barbados on June 5, followed by Group B matches against England, Namibia, and Scotland.
